Thailand 80 Baht (2012) Commemorative Note

Commemorative banknote on the Auspicious Occasion of Her Majesty the Queen's 80th Birthday Anniversary 12th August 2012.

Obverse: The portraits of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit; the scene of Her Majesty being conferred the title of the Queen; the royal crest commemorating the 80th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen; the images of Rosa 'Queen Sirikit' and Cattleya 'Queen Sirikit', the Royal Garuda emblem; Lai Dok Mai Ruang (falling flower design) printed with special metallic blue ink

Reverse: The portraits of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit; The images of Their Majesties the King and the Queen, together with their son and daughters in childhood; the images of the Queen visiting the Thai people, performing the work of the SUPPORT foundation for the well being of the Thai people as well as for the conservation and restoration of Thai arts and culture, and giving plants to the locals in efforts to preserve and restore natural resources; the royal crest commemorating the 80th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen on August 12th, 2012, and the images of Ueang Sae orchids, Rosa 'Queen Sirikit' and Cattleya 'Queen Sirikit'

Thailand 50 Baht (2012) 16th series Banknotes

This series has been issued to glorify Thai kings of different periods from past to present. The denominational range of the new series, which retains the sizes and the colors of the current series (series 15) consists of 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 baht. Each denomination of the new banknotes will be issued separately, with intervals between releases, so it will take several years until all denominations are introduced.

Thailand 60 Baht (1987) Commemorative Note

The baht (Thai: บาท, sign: ฿) is the currency of Thailand. It is subdivided into 100 satang (สตางค์). The issuance of currency is the responsibility of the Bank of Thailand.

The baht, like the pound, originated from a traditional unit of mass. Its currency value was originally expressed as that of silver of corresponding weight (now defined as fifteen grams), and was in use probably as early as the Sukhothai period in the form of bullet coins known in Thai as phot duang (Thai: พดด้วง).

This note was issued in 1987 to celebrate H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 60th birthday. Note that the size of this banknote is double the size of an ordinary banknote.

The front features the portrait of King Rama IX in the uniform of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, wearing a ceremonial robe, the Pudtan Kanchanasinghas Ceremonial Thone.

The Back features Their Majesties the King and Queen, H.R.H Crown Princess Maha Vajiralongkorn, H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and H.R.H. Princess Chulabhorn surrounded by their subjects.
